Beautiful black spinel lariat:

In this article I will show you how to make beautiful black spinel long lariat that looks stunning with lot of your dresses.

About Black Spinel :

It is not known for certain how the name Spinel originated. The most common suggestion is that it may have derived from the Latin word 'spina' meaning a thorn, possibly referring to its fiery color or the sharp pointed crystals that are found within some Spinels.

Spinels are associated with love and help the wearer to put their ego aside and become devoted to another person. Spinel also encourages passion and is said to increase the duration of one's life.

Black Spinel in particular is said to be a protective stone and helps re-establish relationships and resolve issues. It is also believed to relieve sadness.

Black Spinel is mined mainly in Thailand (Boi Ploi, Kanchanaburi), where it is known as “Nin”. There are also known deposits in Africa, Myanmar (Burma), and Sri Lanka.

What we use :

In this project we are going to make 96 cm long beautiful lariat.

2.5 strands black spinel Rondelle 3-4 mm (Total 80 cm). ¾ strand (14 cm) of black spinel onion shape faceted beads. 2 half drill black spinel onion shape drop. You can also use other beads that can make a nice feature drop. 0.25 mm very thin and strong tiger tail – Griffin. You can also use black silk tread.

How to do :

We made 80 cm long necklace with black spinel beads of 3-4 mm Rondelle beads. On both end we add 6 cm long black spinel onion faceted beads. To make nice end feature we use 2 half drill black 15 x14 mm spinel onion shape faceted beads but you can use any other long and bigger beads in the end.

We glue silver cap on top of black onion shape beads and attach it with long necklace. Just finish both side with 2 small crimp with French wire on each side

Hessonite Garnet Necklace

When you think of garnets you automatically think red. Right? Well it’s not always the case. Garnets come in a surprising array of colours. Most of the garnets you see in commercial jewellery are almandine or pyrope garnets a rich red that owes it’s colour to its high iron content. Under closer inspection you will find that for the most part, they are highly “included”, i.e., that have visible particles within the stone, usually visible to the naked eye, but more obvious under a 10X magnification. It’s easy to differentiate a genuine garnet from “paste” or glass imitation, as the paste stones will appear flawless. Garnets rarely, if ever have this attribute.

As well as the common pyrope or almandine garnets, there are a few other colours worth mentioning here. We will start with the most valuable, the demantoid garnet. This brilliant grass green (but lighter than an emerald, and more similar to a peridot) variety of garnet is very rare and valuable. Its light refraction (or “fire”) is said to exceed that of a diamond. Originally it was mined in the Ural Mountains of Russia, just before the World War I and was popular in jewellery of that period. Demantoid garnets invariably have inclusions of asbestos which brown hairs within the stone, a characteristic which makes it easier to identify it from a synthetic stone. No other garnet comes anywhere near the demantoid garnet in value.

Green Amethyst Designer Necklace

Green amethyst is also known as Praisiolite, Vermarine or less commonly Amagreen. Whilst it can occur naturally, this is very rare and most green amethyst seen today is the result of pale purple amethyst being subjected to heat treatment. Naturally occurring green amethyst is thought to be the result of extreme heat-related geological event during the formation of the gemstone, such as volcanic activity. It is important to remember that is in fact amethyst and is not related to any other green gemstones such as chrysoberyl, emerald, tourmaline, chrome diopside or tsarovite garnet. Natural and heat-treated amethysts are exactly the same in structure. Colour can range from a very pale soft green to a deeper sage green.
